News: News (And Old) Comedies Confirmed For New BBC Scotland Channel

The new BBC Scotland television channel launching next month has confirmed a number of new comedy shows as well as being the first channel to air new runs of classic series.

As previously reported BBC Scotland will be airing the final series of sitcom Still Game when it launches on February 24 before it is broadcast on BBC One. Though presumably it will be available on iPlayer once it has aired on BBC Scotland.

And the channel has also just announced that it will also be broadcasting two new comedy series, Comedy Underground and The State Of It. A pilot of Comedy Undergriund went out last November, compered by Ashley Storrie (pictured). The show's aim was to "bring together the best, brightest and most exciting comedians gigging in Scotland."

The pilot of The State Of It was hosted by Robert Florence and took a look at the state of Scotland and the world at large. Featuring explosive sketches, satirical animation and topical contributions from a range of new Scottish comic talent, The State of It is produced and directed by the team behind the Bafta Scotland award-winning Scot Squad.
