John Bishop has sold his house to HS2 for £6.8m.
The £55bn high speed rail line will cut journey times from London to Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds.
Bishop has criticised the scheme, but according to a BBC report he said he had "no choice" but to sell.
The report says that in 2016 he tweeted: "Anyone looking at the details sees how flawed it is, including every independent review."
His Grade II listed Georgian mansion in Northwich, Cheshire comes with 28 acres of land.
The new rail line will pass within 150m of the property. The stand-up superstar sold it through HS2's Need to Sell scheme.
