Joe Lycett is inviting members of the public to come to his house in Birmingham to celebrate the opening of his kitchen extension by Yvonne Mosquito, the Lord Mayor of Birmingham.

Lycett has explained his latest wheeze in his latest newsletter: 

"I spent some of my telly money having my kitchen done and for a laugh I emailed the Lord Mayor of Birmingham asking if she’d open it. She said no. She said it’s a private event and she does not attend private events. So I said I'd make it public: I told her four members of the public drawn from a ‘raffle’ would attend. The Lord Mayor said yes."

So four lucky fans will be able to watch the Mayor walk down a red carpet shaking hands with the builders, cut the ribbon, unveil the plaque and then drink drinks and eat canapés.
