News: Homeless Edinburgh Fringe Shows Find New Home

A number of shows who lost their Edinburgh Fringe venue have now been successfully relocated.

The shows - BTJ understands that there were 42, including Cerys Nelmes' 80s Game Show Mash Up (pictured) – were due to be playing the Laughing Horse venue at Espionage but due to local building work the venue is no longer available. The news was too late for the print edition of the Edinburgh Fringe brochure but the listings information will be corrected at edfringe.com and will be on the new Free Festival website when it launches this week.

Laughing Horse's Alex Petty says: "G1 (owners of Espionage and a number of other Fringe venues) have been hugely proactive in finding alternative venues for performers."

He explained: "The four rooms of shows will now take place in two new rooms at Free Festival hub venues The Free Sisters and Cabaret Voltaire, and the remaining shows will take place in a brand-new pop-up venue located on the Cowgate called ‘The Lock Up’, located between the Three Sisters and Brewdog."
