The classic comedy sketch, The Four Yorkshiremen, is to be rebooted and performed by women as part of the Guilty Feminist Amnesty International show at the Royal Albert Hall on July 7 at 3pm.
The sketch was written by Tim Brooke-Taylor, John Cleese, Graham Chapman and Marty Feldman and was first performed on the pre-Monty Python TV series At Last The 1948 Show. It later became linked to Monty Python when Chapman, Eric Idle, Michael Palin and Terry Jones performed it in their live shows. Over the years Rowan Atkinson, Vic Reeves and Eddie Izzard are among those who have also guested in versions of the classic sketch.
It has not yet been revealed who will be appearing in the sketch at the Royal Albert Hall, but the latest line-up for the major event has just been confirmed.
The Guilty Feminist podcast is a comedy phenomenon with over 65 million downloads since it first launched in December 2015. Hosted by comedian Deborah Frances-White, the world famous podcast has just travelled around the UK with a special touring version of the show and is now set to take London by storm with their biggest and most spectacular live show to date.
The bill includes a special headline set from stand-up comedian Hannah Gadsby as well as Guilty Feminist regulars Aisling Bea, Sindhu Vee, Susan Wokoma, Jessica Fostekew, Bridget Christie and London Hughes plus world class actors including Juliet Stevenson, Adjoa Andoh and Rebecca Front. There will be special musical performances from Amusical stars Kiri Pritchard-McLean and Jayde Adams and more from Jess Robinson. Clare Perkins will deliver her astounding ‘burn the house down’ speech from West End sensation Emilia and Mhairi Black MP – the youngest MP in living memory - will be on the sofa.
