Eddie Izzard will be previewing his brand new stand-up show, Wunderbar, at Gilded Balloon Teviot on the 12th, 13thand 14th of August. This will be the first chance for audiences to get a sneak peek at the show before the UK tour begins in September.
Following on from the explosive Force Majeure, which made comedy history as the most extensive stand-up show ever by playing in 45 countries – including all 50 of the United States – and in four languages, Wunderbar is Eddie Izzard’s first new stand-up show in five years. First dreamt up in Paris while Eddie improvised in French atop a floating theatre on the Seine, the show was then developed in Berlin through improvisation in German before taking its final form in English. Now ready to be shared with the world, Wunderbar marks a return to Eddie’s stand-up roots, featuring his distinctively surreal observations on life, love, history, and his ‘theory of the universe’ in an hour of unique comedy that’s both personal and fantastical.
Eddie Izzard is one of UK’s most iconic comedians, known for his distinctive stream-of-consciousness style of delivery and surreal material. As an actor, he has an equally impressive repertoire, having starred in the likes of Ocean’s Twelve with George Clooney and Victoria & Abdul with Dame Judi Dench. Recently, he appeared as grand villain The Duke in Boyz in the Wood, which opened the 2019 Edinburgh International Film Festival.
