Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) UK has acquired Darren Star’s comedy Younger for Comedy Central UK from Endemol Shine International. The deal includes all six series of the successful comedy, produced by Viacom’s TV Land in the U.S. The series will air on Comedy Central UK later this year.
From Sex and the City creator Darren Star and starring two-time Tony® winner Sutton Foster, Hilary Duff, Debi Mazar, Miriam Shor, Nico Tortorella, Peter Hermann, Molly Bernard and Charles Michael Davis,Younger follows 40-year-old Liza (Foster), a suddenly single mother who lies about her age to land a job in the highly competitive world of publishing. As Liza’s personal and professional lives become irreversibly intertwined over time, keeping the secret proves more and more difficult.
Louise Holmes, Vice President and General Manager of Comedy Central UK comments: “Younger is a delightful mix of comedy, drama and romance that is sure to become a firm favourite with Comedy Central viewers. The show has gone from strength to strength on Viacom’s TV Land in the U.S. and we can’t wait to bring all six seasons to Comedy Central’s viewers here in the UK from this autumn.”
Cathy Payne, Chief Executive of distributor Endemol Shine International adds: “Currently airing its sixth season, Younger has been a huge success around the world and we are so pleased to be working with VIMN UK to bring the entire six seasons to the UK.”
Produced by TV Land, the series is written and executive produced by entertainment icon Darren Star (Sex and the City, Beverly Hills, 90210), with Endemol Shine International distributing the series outside of the US.
Season six premiered in the U.S. on June 12 and is proving to be a hugely successful season, recording its highest-rated season launch ever in the key P25-54 and W25-54 demographics.
