6. What do your parents/children (delete as applicable) think of your job?
People have asked them what they think about me talking about the things I talk about onstage as though they should be horrified but they couldn’t give a toss. They don’t try to censor me in the slightest. I get a lot of my humour from them anyway. It’s their fault.
7. What’s the worst thing about being a comedian?
Admin. I suck at organising everything. I wish there was a medical label for it.
8. I think you are very good at what you do (that’s why I’m asking these questions). What do you think of you?
Ha ha I think too much about me. Some days I think I feel like I’m good at this and it’s what I’m meant to be doing. Other days I feel like I’m a talentless idiot.
9. How much do you earn and how much would you like to earn?
Ha ha I honestly don’t know but I think minus expenses it’s not a job I’d ever do for the money. I’d like to buy a house, not a big house, just a house and fund my uber habit. That’s all.
10. How important is luck in terms of career success – have you had lucky breaks?
When it comes to TV I have no idea how it works. It feels like there are multiple factors at play like money etc. that don’t affect clubs but I feel the circuit is a meritocracy. If you put yourself in enough places enough and you’re good most of the time, you can’t really be held back by bad luck.
11. Alan Davies has said that comedians fall into two categories - golfers and self-harmers. The former just get on with life, the latter are tortured artists. Which are you – or do you think you fit into a third category?
Ha ha little of column A, little of column B. My mental health record isn’t exactly squeaky clean but not everyone would know that about me so I must just get on with it too.
12. Who is your favourite person ever and why – not including family or friends or other comedians?
I’m just going to answer with something recent because the question is too hard. I watched When They See Us last week about the guys who were wrongly convicted as teens for a crime they didn’t commit and one of them - Korey Wise had faced so much heart-breaking injustice and was still such a pure and beautiful soul. I watched interviews with him and he’s just a great person so this week it’s him.
13. Do you keep your drawers tidy and if not why not? (please think long and hard about this question, it's to settle an argument with my girlfriend. The future of our relationship could depend on your response).
Hell no. No one can see them! I’m messy inside. I only clean at all so as not to be judged. If you’re looking in my drawers, you’ve got some questions to answer before I have to answer any!
