Rewind North, which was supposed to take place this weekend from August 2 - 4 has been cancelled due to the extreme weather. Comedians Russell Kane, Justin Moorhouse, Lost Voice Guy and Andre Vincent were among those billed to appear at Capesthorne Hall, Macclesfield.

A statement said: "Unfortunately, the prolonged extreme wet weather conditions experienced in Cheshire have caused significant disruption to the site at Rewind North. Although we have robust contingency plans in place and have made every effort to allow the festival to go ahead, in the interests of the safety of our customers, we have taken the decision to cancel the event. The safety and experience of our customers remains our priority."

Russell Kane (pictured) tweeted: "Absolutely gutted that @rewindfestival has been cancelled due to weather apocalypse in North of England. Sod it - I'll travel to Edinburgh a day early. May have to surprise myself into some shows Saturday night."
