

Comedian Sheila Steafel has died. She was 84.
Steafel was originally from South Africa but came to Lonon in the 1950s and was a familiar face in TV comedies in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.
She appreed in shows including The Frost Report, The Ghosts of Motley Hall and Not Only...But Also with Peter Cook and Dudley Moore. She also worked with many other stars including Tommy Cooper and Kenny Everett.
She acted in a number of strsight plays onstage and played the witch in the Engelbert Humperdinck opera Hansel and Gretel.
Steafel was also the first female to join the all male Radio 4 Weekending team and did a solo show at the 1981 Edinburgh festival, which she later performed in London and on tour.
She married Harry H Corbett in 1958 and they divorced in 1964.
