In a wide-ranging interviewing with Martin Walker of website Broadwaybaby.com Jim Davidson has revealed that he may be returning to BBC1 television. The controversial comedian and Celebrity Big Brother winner also discussed his position in the comedy world and whether appearing at the Edinburgh Fringe this summer would help to change people’s attitudes to him: “If I was to cure malaria and eradicate AIDS I would still be the arsehole racist homophobic fucking god-knows-what, so all I’m going to do up there is my spot.”
The 60-year-old stand-up is playing the full run of the Fringe for the first time ever at the Rainy Hall at the Assembly Hall. During the interview he talked about a lot more than his shows though. It turned out, for instance that he is not a big fan of Bernard Manning, the comedian he is often compared to: “I knew him quite well and I didn’t like his act very much.”
Davidson went on to discuss his encounter with comedian Paul Sinha at the Comedy Store when he called him an "Indian poof" and his encounter with Brian Dowling on ITV1's Hell's Kitchen and why he no longer does his Chalky White impersonation onstage. He also revealed that he is a supporter of gay marriage and how he received a handwritten letter from Tony Blair.
