Tributes have been paid to Jonathan Miller, who has died aged 85.
As well as being well-known as a director and writer, he was also famous as one of the four members of Beyond The Fringe, the pioneering satirical revue which also starred Alan Bennett, Dudley Moore and Peter Cook.
Actor/comedian Rufus Jones tweeted: "The culture became a substantially stupider place today. Jonathan Miller could do anything, and therefore did everything. And among it all, with Beyond The Fringe, completely revolutionised what and who we laugh at. Absolute waterfall of genius."
Film director Edgar Wright wrote: "RIP Jonathan Miller. One quarter of the truly ground breaking Beyond The Fringe."
Danny Baker tweeted a link to the appearance below and added this: "Alice, the operas, directing, psychology, medicine. Of all his towering achievements Jonathan Miller seemed least proud of his gift for jokes and the ridiculous, only occasionally returning to it. So, with apologies on this sombre day..."
