Daniel Sloss's critically acclaimed stand-up show X is to be screened in Vue cinemas all over the UK tonight.
This is not the first stand-up show to be screened in Vue cinemas – Ross Noble's tour show was relayed live in 2007 – but it is a major event for the UK comedian with an increasing large and loyal following following extensive tours and two specials airing on streaming giant Netflix.
Sloss’s tenth solo show finds him tackling some uncomfortable issues in modern society. Sloss offers insights on toxic masculinity, gender and sexuality in a set that is both hard-hitting and hilarious.
It's not the easiest show to review. And, at times, not the easiest show to watch as emotions run high. There are some dramatic trademark gear-changes as Sloss earns the trust of his audience to go into difficult areas which other comedians might shy away from. This is an intensely personal show where the acclaimed comic opens himself up in a way he rarely has before.
X previously aired on HBO in America and Canada in autumn 2019, but this is a chance to see a superlative comedy performance on the large screen. The show was filmed in front of a sold-out crowd at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney, Australia.
Johnny Carr, Event Cinema Manager at Vue UK and Ireland, said: “This really is a unique opportunity to watch and consume a comedy show like you never have before. Watching from in front of the big screen, with the ultimate seat and sound, viewers can really get lost in his performance and immerse themselves in his sharp insight.”
