Comedian Katy Wix is writing her first book.
Delicacy is a "darkly comic, deeply humane and refreshingly unique" memoir by the award-winning comedian and Taskmaster (pictured) star.
Revolving around eleven snapshots of life, Delicacy is an exploration of trauma, body image, grief, addiction, love, memory and hope. Cake anchors these moments and with each slice Katy shares memories –the bara brith eaten in hospital after a life-altering car crash was as tough as the metal that hit her; the madeira cake was the sun her group therapy sessions orbited and the sickly royal icing marked the moment Katy found her voice. Some recollections are staccato, raw and shocking, some meditative and profound, all underpinned with moments of startling humour that help shatter the darkness.
“I feel enormously appreciative that I've been allowed to tell these very personal stories and examine the subjects that I really care about, particularly how we treat ourselves and our bodies, and what we choose to do with our bodies for that bit of time we have between birth and death,” says Wix.
Welsh born, Katy Wix is a writer, performer and a regular on the comedy circuit, most recently appearing on the latest series of TASKMASTER alongside Ed Gamble, Jo Brand, Rose Matafeo, David Baddiel and Greg Davies. She has starred as Daisy in Not Going Out, Carole in Channel 4 comedy Stath Lets Flats, Gemma in Agatha Raisin and Fergie in The Windsors, with roles in several other prime time sitcoms and dramas.
Delicacy is published by Headline on July 9. Pre-order here.
