Comedian Omid Djalili has collaborated with producer Rick Blaskey (Three Lions) to release the fans' anthem for the World Cup – England’s Going Out…..(To Do It Again) is available from iTunes from Monday.
Among those guesting in the video are Sir Trevor McDonald, David Baddiel, Michael McIntyre, Jack Dee, Ray Winstone, John Bishop, John Hurt, Michael McIntyre, Harry Hill, Sean Lock, Terry Alderton, Ricky Grover and Bill Bailey.
Omid explains: “I’m very proud to be releasing the Fans’ Football Anthem. We want to ensure that being supportive and having faith & hope in the lads will help to fire them up for the World Cup. Rick Blaskey my producer has been brilliant to work with. He has produced all the big anthems over the years including Three Lions & Swing Low, so we’ve worked really hard together to come up with something special. Thanks to all my friends who have participated in the video so generously and at such short notice.”
Djaili has been doing a routine about the song, which is written by Boothby Graffoe and Sam Gale, and singing excerpts in his recent shows, getting audiences to join in for the chorus. Here are the full lyrics. Presumably the title means "going out to Brazil" and not "groing out in the group stages".
