News: Police Called To Live Gig That Wasn't A Live Gig

A number of comedians and comedy clubs have been quick to respond to the coronavirus lockdown by posting alternative comedy gigs online which are abiding by the regulations.

But when Liverpool's currently closed Hot Water Club put one of their past live gigs online on Saturday night someone got the wrong end of the stick and thought it was actually happening and called the police to inform on them. The gig, featuring Paul Smith, Adam Staunton, Dan Nightingale and Paul Tonkinson, had actually been filmed on March 7.

CCTV footage on the Hot Water Facebook page shows a group of police arriving at the club on Saturday. Needless to say they found the club locked up as the footage that was aired online was pre-recorded before the lockdown.

The club said: "Someone thought it was live and grassed us up to the police, who sent 12 officers a van & a car to shut us down...(fair play to the police responding so fast)".

Watch the footage here.
