Friday Night Dinner returned to Channel 4 for its sixth series on Friday Night at 10pm and attracted a massive average audience of 2.4 million viewers and a 13.7% share, making it the channel’s biggest overnight audience to a comedy series since the IT Crowd in 2007 – for both all individuals and young viewers.
Friday’s episode pulled in almost a million viewers aged 16-34 (916k) and a 40.6% share of those watching TV from 10-10.30pm – Channel 4’s biggest overnight audience of young viewers for any programme so far this year.
Channel 4 drew the biggest share of young viewers from 9pm to 11pm thanks to Gogglebox (30.1% 16-34 share), Friday Night Dinner (40.6%) and Duncanville (15.3%).
Friday night saw Channel 4 achieve its biggest share of the viewing audience in prime time (8-11pm) so far this year (13.3%) and second biggest of the year for its key demographic of 16-34s (23.7%).
And Saturday became All4’s biggest day of viewing on record.
