Comedian Tim Brooke-Taylor has died. He was 79.
It has been reported that he had the coronavirus.
Brooke-Taylor was one of the stars of TV series The Goodies and a long-time member of the I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue team on Radio 4. He is pictured here with his Goodies co-stars Graeme Garden and Bill Oddie at the Bristol Slaptick Festival.
Graeme Garden said he was "terribly saddened by the loss of a dear colleague and close friend of over 50 years".
"He was a funny, sociable, generous man who was a delight to work with. Audiences found him not only hilarious but also adorable. His loss at this dreadful time is particularly hard to bear, and my thoughts are with Christine, Ben, Edward and their families."
The one-time Cambridge Footlights President was a pivotal figure in British comedy in the 1960s and 1970s. As well as starring in The Goodies he worked regularly with members of the Monty Python team and was one of integral stars of an early version of the famous Four Yorkshiremen sketch in the At Last The 1948 Show also starring John Cleese, Graham Chapman and Marty Feldman.
He also appeared in numerous sitcoms including You Must Be The Husband, His and Hers and Me and My Girl with Richard O'Sullivan from 1984 to 1988.
