Tributes have been paid to Irishman BJ Hogg, who has died aged 65.
Hogg was one of the stars of long-running Irish comedy Give My Head Peace (pictured). He played Big Mervyn.
He also appeared in The Fall and Game of Thrones, which was filmed in Ireland.
Hogg had further roles in the films Hunger, Closing the Ring, Divorcing Jack and played Lexie in the short film Dance Lexie Dance, which was nominated for an Oscar in 1998 for best live action short film.
Gail Walker, Editor-at-Large, Belfast Telegraph, tweeted: "If NI’s theatres had not already gone dark due to Covid, they’d be dimming their lights tonight for BJHogg. Good night & thank you RIP"
Hallion Battalion tweeted: "Awful news. 'Big Mervyn' was part of the fabric of Northern Ireland for the best part of 20 years, brought to life perfectly by BJ."
