News: Annual Waverley Care Gala Goes Online With Tom Allen, Josh Widdicombe, Janey Godley, Rich Hall, Angela Barnes And Lots More

Off The Kerb has been raising money for Waverley Care through live shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival since 2003, and 2020 will be no different. Well it will be a bit different because this year's show will be online...

A stellar line-up of stand-up comedians including Tom Allen, Josh Widdicombe, Janey Godley, Rich Hall and many more will be streamed directly into homes on 27th August, to keep the fundraising efforts alive this year.

Waverley Care is Scotland's biggest charity to provide care and support to those living with HIV and Hepatitis C. There are three ticket tiers, and all will give access to the same show – but each price highlights the increasing benefits to the charity.

The three tiers, starting at £5, all buy you the same access to the show BUT the more you're willing to pay, the more we can help Waverley Care

• £5 – Could buy 1,000 fliers to help fight HIV and sexual health stigma.
• £10 – Could fund a rapid HIV test for someone who might have been at risk of contracting HIV.
• £20 – Could pay for an online support session to someone dealing with mental health problems during the pandemic.

Matt Middler, Fundraising Manager, Waverley Care. says: “Throughout the pandemic, our key workers at Waverley Care have been supporting some of the most vulnerable people across Scotland: delivering formula milk and medication to HIV-positive mothers in African communities, continuing to test homeless people in Glasgow who are vulnerable to the HIV outbreak in the city, and providing phone and online support to people affected by HIV, Hepatitis C and poor sexual health and wellbeing.

The demand for our services has increased, but our ability to raise funds has been hard hit. During August we would usually be raising £100,000 via bucket shakes and ticket sales from events at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Covid 19 has put a stop to that, and so we are delighted that Off The Kerb will be taking their fundraising Comedy Gala online for Waverley Care.”

The full line-up so far is: Tom Allen, Josh Widdicombe, Janey Godley, Rich Hall, Marlon Davis, Mark Steel, Christopher Macarthur-Boyd, Angela Barnes, Marcus Brigstocke, Phil Jerrod, Charlie Baker, Joanne McNally, Andrew Ryan, Tom Lucy, George Lewis, Larry Dean, Mo Omar and Kiri Pritchard-McLean.
