Comedy Central UK has announced plans to bolster its UK programming slate with new commissions including play-along panel show Guessable and topical TV round-up show Channel Hopping with Jon Richardson.
Packed with plenty of take-away trivia, Guessable (8 x 60) will be produced by Tuesday’s Child Television. The panel series will involve two celebrity teams competing to identify the famous name or object inside a mystery box. Sara Pascoe will host the show with John Kearns on hand as her assistant, whilst Alan Davies and Darren Harriott are on board as team captains, in a format that puts a twist on classic family games.
Sara Pascoe said: “Guessable is made up of some very silly guessing games- and it turns out that watching a comedian fail to draw a tea cup or to realise they are toilet paper is very, very funny.”
Produced by Rumpus Media, Channel Hopping with Jon Richardson will see the titular British comic present a weekly digest of the world's wildest TV. In each 6 x 60-minute episode, Jon will give his take on curious headlines from around the world, hilarious clips, terrible soap opera acting and more. Jon will also talk to stars from the clips to find out more about their moment in the limelight.
Sebastian Cardwell, Deputy Director of Programmes at ViacomCBS Networks UK commented: “I’m excited to be ramping up the shows that we’re commissioning for Comedy Central UK. These new series will bring a big dose of laughter to our expanding UK slate. With strong formats and a number of exceptional comedy talents attached to them, they are the perfect recipe of fun and humour.”
The new programmes come hot on the heels of Cardwell’s first commission for Comedy Central UK since his role was expanded across the ViacomCBS portfolio earlier this year. Comedy Game Night, which first appeared on Channel 5 as Celebrity Game Night, will debut on Comedy Central, with Liza Tarbuck returning as host, alongside team captains Sue Perkins and Guz Khan.
Guessable starts on Comedy Central UK on Monday, October 5 at 9pm.
