With almost 50,000 views and listens across social media, series 1 of chat show podcast 'Jew Talkin' To Me?' got off to a flying start.
Running weekly from Friday 16th October, Series 2 opens with an episode featuring Valerie Landsburg, star of iconic 80’s TV phenomenon 'Fame', and Boyd Hilton, Entertainment Director of Heat magazine and co-host of 'Footballistically Arsenal' and 'Pilot TV' podcasts.
Other episodes already recorded include such guests as artist Toby Mott, “Punk Professor” Vivien Goldman, actor Simon Lipkin, impressionist Jess Robinson, actress and voiceover artist Lucie Pohl, comedians Adam Bloom, Matt Kirshen, Al Lubel, Steve Jameson (aka Sol Bernstein) and British comedy icon Dave Cohen. Listeners will be entertained by tales of favourite family foods and most shocking family feuds. They’ll also find out which of our guests would come out on top in Jews Vs Zombies, and we’ll continue to explore the idea that “if laughter really is the best medicine, why do we need chicken soup?”
One new development is that whilst Series 1 was also broadcast as a video on Facebook and YouTube, Series 2 will only be released as an audio podcast. With lockdown easing and taking on board our audience response, we’re excited to focus all our attention on making this the best podcast we can. We’ll still be putting out footage on social media because, let’s face it, who doesn’t love a little glimpse into a celebrity's home?
Our audience has described 'Jew Talkin' To Me?' as their 'Friday treat' with some non-Jewish listeners calling us their 'guilty pleasure'. Our running debate over whether to say “bagel” or “beigel” reached a peak when we had numerous tags on the photo of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s recent visit to an east end Jewish bakery.
'Jew Talkin' To Me?' was created and is hosted by award winning comedians Rachel Creeger and Philip Simon. It is produced by Russell Balkind. And the team weren’t quiet during the break between series. Never ones to let the grass grow under their feet, Philip and Rachel recorded fun weekly sketches and messages for their audience to enjoy over the Jewish New Year holiday seasons.
All episodes of the podcast can be found via shows.acast.com/jewtalkin or listeners can subscribe and listen wherever they get their podcasts. Series 1 guests included Anthony Horowitz, Steve Furst, Debbie Chazen, Ivor Baddiel, Esta Charkham, Morris Bright MBE, Alice Fraser and Jay Foreman.
