Sean Connery has died. He was 90.
Connery will always be remembered as the first and best James Bond in the successful film franchise but had a much more varied career.
The Scotland-born actor who was once a Glasgow milkman and a Mr Universe entrant was also acclaimed for his performances in “The Wind and the Lion,” “The Man Who Would Be King”, "Entrapment" and “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" and his role in Brian De Palma’s 1987 “The Untouchables” brought him a supporting actor Oscar. He also starred in The Rock. There was also Zardoz, Marnie and Highlander among others.
He was knighted by the Queen at Holyrood Palace in 2000.
In 1999 he was selected People magazine’s Sexiest Man of the Century.
Connery was not known for his comedy but he was the subject of many jokes, most of which mocked his voice: "What time does Sean Connery usually arrive at Wimbledon? Tennish"
