Punday (er, Monday) 8th February marks the UK’s seventh ever UK PunDay, an annual event in which pun fans around the country unite to share their best (and worst) puns on social media, using hashtag #UKPunDay.
#UKPunDay is Britain’s first and only national day celebrating puns, and was founded by Leicester Comedy Festival following the cult success of The UK Pun Championships which will return later this year along with Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year Competition.
This year the annual rap battle will be replaced by a live UK Pun Off bringing all the one liner fun straight to your front room. The last 4 winners of the UK Pun Championships, Adele Cliff (2020), Colin Leggo (2019), Robert Thomas (2018) and Lovdev Barparga (2017), will be joined by Iain MacDonald (semi-finalist 2017) and Julian Lee (finalist 2017 &2018) to battle it out for pun supremacy and try to take home the trophy of the first annual UK Pun Off tournament. And it's up to the online audience to decide the winner and choose their favourite puns in the process.
Please note, this event is live, and will not be available to watch after the advertised start time
