News: New Comedy Takes A Look At Life After Lockdown

A new show is being launched which will take a comic view of life after lockdown.

Grave New World is written and presented by Stuart Laws with performances from a cast of comedians including James Acaster (pictured with Laws), Harriet Kemsley, Bobby Mair and Evelyn Mok. The series will be available from 31st March 2021 in four episodes of 12-17 minutes.

The world is different since a virus struck and lockdowns were enforced. Now, a year on from the first lockdown, we will step into a new reality, a new normal, a Grave New World.

Grave New World looks and feels like a current affairs show, Panorama meets The One Show, presenting an alternative view of how the world has dramatically changed. Theme parks, taxis, fitness, planes and fizzy drinks all play by different rules now, but maybe not quite the ones we expect. Did you know ride shares have a Pando-Party option? Or that we’ll all have to abide by new risk units, spending them on a special card? Or that one airline has taken to driving planes on the road?

The unique world created by Stuart Laws offers up a fresh perspective, stylised writing and high gag rate with an overarching plot which slowly leads Stuart down a rabbit hole of new experiences and mysterious happenings. The writing is perfectly complemented by incredible performances from Stuart Laws, James Acaster, Harriet Kemsley, Bobby Mair, Sadia Azmat, Evelyn Mok, Annie McGrath, Sunil Patel, Rose Johnson, Heidi Regan, Holly Burn, Jessica Fostekew, Lucy Pearman, Alex Kealy and Dan Cook as reporters, experts, conspiracy theorists and pilots.

Stuart Laws is a writer, director and stand-up comedian. He has gained a sizeable online following for his unique and hilarious threads about seemingly everyday events and his short form comedy videos. His twitter thread about dirty plates in a cafe that spiralled into a tale of deception and subterfuge in a book club was shared all over the world and his Michael Caine “Never” video series has racked up over a million views. Most recently he’s gone viral with a video of him calling the mobile phone number that was written on the side of a horse.

Stuart also runs his own production company Turtle Canyon Comedy through which he works with leading comedians to make sketch shows, sitcoms and live shows. His online sitcoms “Charity Starts At Home”, “Plane Spotters”, “Sweet Home Ketteringa” and “Hope You Come Up Here” have all had thousands of views and have been commissioned for further development or radio and TV adaptations.
