Award winning comedian and broadcaster John Robins is launching a brand new podcast series celebrating his love of the Great British Pub.
‘The Moon Under Water’ launches across all major podcast platforms on April 12 - the same day pubs across England are allowed to reopen their beer gardens and outdoor spaces to the general public.
Across each episode landlord John Robins will be joined by regular Robin Allender along with a very special guest, who will be tasked with creating their dream watering hole of the mind. From the drinks on offer to the music played to what they’d ban from their fantasy establishment, the visiting patron will have free rein over how they shape their perfect pint palace, whilst sharing stories and memories of their favourite pubs along the way.
Guests confirmed for series one include Danny Wallace, Vick Hope, Jodie Kidd, Sarah Millican and Nish Kumar.
Talking about the launch of his first ever solo podcast, John says: "The Moon Under Water is a pub of the mind, one you always dreamed of, but never quite found. It exists down the lamp-lit alleyways of the past, and you may well stumble upon it’s warm glow in the o’er rotating streets of the future. It is desire, loss, memory and dream."

ABOUT JOHN ROBINS
Having completed numerous sell-out runs at the Edinburgh Fringe, and picking up Chortle Awards for Best Compere and Best Radio, in 2017 Robins scooped the big one, sharing The Edinburgh Comedy Award for his show The Darkness of Robins with Hannah Gadsby for her show Nanette. A 68-date UK tour followed, culminating in a sold out show at London’s Hammersmith Eventim Apollo.
He is best known for his radio and podcast partnership with Elis James. In 2014 they began presenting a show for XFM before transitioning through the station’s rebrand to Radio X, where they took the helm of Saturday afternoons. In 2019, they announced a move to BBC Radio 5 Live for a two-hour Friday afternoon entertainment slot. The show won Gold for Funniest Show at the ARIAS 2020. Elis and John are already celebrated for their podcasting, with the ‘Isolation Tapes’ proving a hit during the coronavirus pandemic and their ‘How Do You Cope?’ series winning ‘Best Podcast’ at the British Press Guild Awards 2021.
John is a familiar face on TV having appeared on Live At The Apollo (BBC), Mock The Week (BBC), Drunk History (Comedy Central), Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled (Dave), Live At The Comedy Store (Comedy Central) and Stand-Up Central (Comedy Central).
Throughout their time on radio Elis and John have gained a reputation for their humorous, candid and sensitive discussion of mental health, which has led to a number of partnerships with charities such as Mind and CALM. The show spawned two national tours and a book, ‘The Holy Vible’.
