It's a juicy stand-up comedy special on Pointless Celebrities this week with Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman quizzing some comedy pairings with the prize money going to charity.
The four duos are Rosie Jones and Miles Jupp. Russell Kane and Lucy Beaumont. Rhys James and Lloyd Griffith. Phil Wang and Sindhu Vee.
I don't know how they work out the pairings, whether it is by random draw or a connection between the players. Mock The Week breakout star Rhys James and former Soccer AM presenter Lloyd Griffith are both fanatical football fans – James is a Spurs supporter while Griffith supports his hometown team of Grimsby, also known as The Mariners.
I'm impressed that Rosie Jones found the time to fit this in – she's one of the most in-demand comedians around at the moment, with her own travel series, Trip Hazard, starting on Channel 4 next week. Miles Jupp is also something of a workaholic, but his home life is probably just as taxing - he has five children. He has recently been cast in a straight role in SAS: Rogue Heroes, a major new drama series from Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, being made for BBC One.
Russell Kane hit the ground running during lockdown as he had already been doing stand-up online. His rapidfire rapid response topical Kaneing shows have been notching up thousands and thousands of viewers. Kane is joined by Lucy Beaumont, who can also be seen on Dave with her real life husband, comedian Jon Richardson, in Meet The Richardsons.
Phil Wang has a new book out later this year and is also gearing up to film a Netflix special of his latest show at the Palladium in June. His partner Sindhu Vee – on the show, not in real life – is also one of the hottest comedy properties around at the moment. She is set to appear alongside Stephen Graham and Andrea Risborough in the Netflix version of the Tim Minchin musical adaptation of the Roald Dahl classic Matilda. Vee will play Mrs. Phelps.
