Katy Wix, comedian and one of the stars of BBC sitcom Ghosts. is publishing a book.
Delicacy isn’t just another celebrity memoir. Katy has written a feminist, poetic response to a series of significant life events, many of which mirror the lived experiences of others. Cake is an anchor in each snapshot, appearing in a myriad of forms; as a frilly, gaudy temptation and a regular arrival in the aftermath of tragedy. It’s there during hospice visits, therapy sessions, supermarket trips and birthday celebrations. Its presence is a stark contrast to the deeply poignant scenes, all of which are peppered with Katy’s trademark wit and warmth.
Wix can also be seen on Celebrity Mastermind on Saturday, May 8 at 6.30pm on BBC One.
The other contestants are Kate Thornton, Nancy Lam, Dominic Skinner and the specialist subjects are Dulwich, Rod Stewart, Alexander McQueen, and the plays of Annie Baker.
Wix also has a podcast with Adam Drake in which they travel up and down the country, taking their favourite people from the public eye back to the places of their youth. At each place, the guest talks through their memories (from the hilarious to the poignant), tells stories, and gives a message to their younger self.
Recorded entirely on location, Dear Me invites each guest to speak openly to their childhood self, and to draw connections between their past and present by revisiting some of the funny, moving or significant moments from their youth. The listener is invited to understand what made the guest who they are today, and how the past has shaped them, as well as to draw parallels between the guest’s stories and their own.
