More details have emerged about Rob Beckett's drunken behaviour following the England v Germany match at Wembley on Tuesday night.

According to a story in the Sun after Beckett left the north-west London football stadium he ended up at the nearby location where Peter Crouch presents Crouchy's Year Late Euros, the live post-game show co-hosted by Maya Jama.

The production team was initially interested in Beckett appearing on the show – he has previously guested on it – but it soon became apparent how worse for wear he was and that it might not be such a good idea to have him on. In fact eventually it was decided that he was too much of a distraction to have backstage and he was asked to leave.

The 35-year-old co-host of hit podcast Lockdown Parenting Hell with Josh Widdicombe told the Sun: "We were too drunk to go on the telly. I had to apologise because I was ordering beers through rehearsal while they were trying to make their show. They asked me to leave before it started, which I thought was a good decision."

He later texted Peter Crouch to apologise.

As previously revealed, Beckett documented his night out on social media, which included eating KFC in an alleyway by some rubbish and announcing “I’m f***ed out of my head but it’s the greatest night of my life”.

There was quit a few comedians at the match as well as Beckett, including Mock The Week regular Rhys James, Last Leg star Josh Widdicombe, Ivo Graham, Lloyd Griffith, Charlie Baker and, of course, David Baddiel and Frank Skinner. After the match Beckett tweeted: "It ain’t coming home. It’s already here."

Beckett's BAFTA-nominated series with Romesh Ranganathan, Rob & Romesh Vs, returns to Sky One and NOW TV on 8 July.

Update: After the England victory against Ukraine Beckett tweeted: "I’m going to the semi finals of the Euros at Wembley and I’m going to lose my fucking marbles. Bucket hat on my head and up my arse. Come on England!"
