Seasoned stand-up, columnist and cricket obsessive Mark Steel has a new podcast out. Welcome to What The F*** Is Going On with Mark Steel.
With satirical shows under attack from the powers-that-be, and so many people crying out for comedy that has something to say about the state of the world, the time couldn’t be more right for this podcast to show up, and its nitro-fuelled rise in the podcast charts after only two episodes and zero promotion outside of Mark tweeting the wrong link is proof of that.
Each episode sees Mark rip apart the news of the week with his trademark irreverent wit and fury, further disseminating the ridiculous state we’re all in with a special guest (so far he’s been joined by Peep Show’s Isy Suttie and After Life’s Kerry Godliman, with some very special guests lined up for future episodes). Mark is also regularly joined by his stand-up comic son Elliot, who provides a Gen-Z perspective on Mark’s fury with the state of the world.
In the latest episode Mark is joined by Mock the Week regular and We Are History podcast host, Angela Barnes and Elliot Steel as he tries to make sense of the NHS pay dispute, Bill Cosby and the new obsession with Union Jacks.
