Parenting Hell To Go Live

Interview: Josh Widdicombe And Rob Beckett On Parenting Hell

Parenting Hell, the hit podcast presented by Josh Widdicombe and Rob Beckett, is to go live in 2022.

Update - arena dates in London & Manchester have now been announced - ticket details here.

Full dates around the country have yet to be announced but there is to be a "dipping their toe in" show at the Hackney Empire featuring guests and surprises in London on Monday, 31 January. Book here from 10am, November 26. If you sign up to their mailing list at link below you might get a promo code.

Parenting Hell originally started off as Lockdown Parenting Hell, taking a lighthearted look at coping with children during the pandemic. Due to its continuing success the podcast has recently dropped the "lockdown" from its title and continued.

Recent guests have included Michael McIntyre, Paris Fury, Stephen Mangan, Jimmy Carr, Harry Hill and Charlotte Church.

Both Widdicombe and Beckett have two children now and as well as episodes with guests there are also weekly bulletins from the stiff neck/loose neck duo in which they update listeners about their own sleep-deprived domestic issues.

The live podcast phenomenon has really taken off in recent years. The Sh**ged.Married.Annoyed podcast with Chris and Rosie Ramsey has a date coming up at the 02 Arena on November 30.

Beckett recently talked about the podcast in a Guardian interview: "“We had Jessie Ware on, and she was talking about singing to her kids. I realised that she would just beautifully sing to her kids. I’ve only ever sung to mine for laughs. And I thought: ‘God, some people’s first thought isn’t trying to be funny.’ That’s a different way to go about it, wandering about being pleasant and nice. What a waste of your life.”

If Hackney goes well more dates may be announced. The duo have asked fans to sign up to their mailing list (link below) so that they can get a sense of how much interest there is around the country. Tickets for the London gig going on sale on Friday, November 26.

It's not clear when those further dates might be as both Beckett and Widdicombe are also touring in the new year with their own solo stand-up shows. And they also have young families to look after...

Update 15/12 - there are some intimate warm-up gigs before this big one. Details here.
