The transmission date has been confirmed for the return of BBC sitcom Some Girls. The third series, following the adventures and mainly the misadventures of Viva, Amber, Saz and Holli, the worst-behaved schoolgirls on television, starts on November 17
Some Girls is produced by Hat Trick Productions for BBC Three. The new 6 x 30 mins series follows the quartet as the end of the term is in sight and they continue their painful and hilarious journey through both home and sixth form life at Greenshoots Academy.
In the new series the four best friends – Viva (Adelayo Adedayo, Gone Too Far, Sket), Holli (Natasha Jonas, One Night In Istanbul, Attack The Block), Amber (Alice Felgate, You, Me & Them, Side By Side) and Saz (Mandeep Dhillon, Whitechapel, 24: Live Another Day) – experience the excitement of their first music festival, enjoy more romantic entanglements and the school prom.
The series also features Colin Salmon (Arrow, 24: Live Another Day) as Viva's fireman Dad Rob and Dolly Wells (Benny & Jolene, Doll & Em) as the jaw-droppingly tactless Anna, Jassa Ahluwalia (Son Of God, The Whale, Ripper Street) as Viva's devoted boyfriend Rocky and Geoffrey McGivern (The Mimic, Nixon's The One) as the girls' emotionally fragile headmaster Mr Jefferies.
Guests include Jocelyn Jee Essien (Little Miss Jocelyn, Gangsta Granny, Anuvahood) and Gary Damer (Fresh Meat, The League of Gentlemen, Coronation Street).
Executive Producer for BBC3 is Gregor Sharp who comments: “Like all fans of Some Girls we’re delighted that Viva, Holli, Saz and Amber are returning to BBC Three and are curious – and a little bit scared – to see what they get up to in the new series. ”
Jimmy Mulville, Managing Director, Hat Trick Productions, says: “Some Girls is brilliantly writ- ten and beautifully acted comedy. It's laugh-out-loud funny and touchingly honest. Berna - dette Davis is a writer at the top of her game and I'd be surprised if some of this cast don't go on to be household names. It's a gem of a show and Hat Trick is proud to make it.”
Some Girls is written by Bernadette Davis (co-creator and writer of the 1990's hit Game On). Series 3 is produced by John Pocock (The Kumars, The Revolting World of Stanley Brown) and directed by Sasha Ransome (The Kumars, Nixon's The One). The Executive Producers are Helen Williams (You, Me & Them, The Kumars, Spy) and Gregor Sharp.
