Bridget Christie broke box office records at the Soho Theatre with her last show A Bic For Her. She is back this week with her latest show, An Ungrateful Woman. It repeats the same smart formula of daft, self-deprecating clownish jokes and hard-hitting feminist politics, so it will be interesting to see if it repeats the same ticket-shifting success. It certainly deserves to. Her lengthy three-week run starts tonight and advance booking is strongly advised. Hopefully extra dates will be added*. Though if you do want to see some live comedy tonight and can’t get in there is a very good benefit gig at the Comedy Store headlined by Al Murray. Details here.
If you didn't make it to Edinburgh this summer the Pleasance in North London is currently running a season featuring some of the best under-the-radar Fringe shows. Among the highlights this week are innovative, inventive sketch and combos Massive Dad (Monday, Wednesday, Sunday) and Lazy Susan (Tuesday) plus Kieran Hodgson (Wednesday and Friday). If you don't know Hodgson you may well recognise him if you are a Jonathan Creek fan – he played the David Tennant lookalike in the recent Creek outing.
