David Nobbs Memorial Trust Announces Judges for New Comedy Writing Competition Final Round

The David Nobbs Memorial Trust, established in 2017 after the death of the beloved Reggie Perrin author, has announced the final round judges for the fifth annual new comedy writing competition.

Lucy Lumsden, owner of Yellow Door Productions and formerly head of comedy commissioning at both Sky and the BBC, is returning as a judge for the scripts that make it to the final. This year Lucy is joined by Welsh actor, comedian and author Katy Wix (Ghosts, Stath Lets Flats) and actor, writer and producer Barunka O'Shaughnessy (The Mighty Boosh).

Lucy Lumsden says: “The David Nobbs Memorial Trust competition is a great stepping stone for the industry”.

Katy Wix said: “I can’t wait to pass judgement on the future of comedy!”

The competition offers a cash prize of £1000 and a runner up prize of £250 for up-and-coming comedy writers in order to help them to ‘buy time’ for writing. The winner will also get a valuable one-to-one consultation with an established comedy producer or commissioner from the Trust board.

The deadline for submitting entries has passed and readers from across the UK comedy industry are preparing the longlist ready to be announced in May.

Full details of the competition can be found at the Trust website: www.DavidNobbsMemorialTrust.org.uk
