The first ever Walthamstow Weekender is a community driven festival celebrating literature, music, poetry and comedy, 24-25 September 2022, in Walthamstow, east London.
In recent years the Red Imp Comedy Club and Rock n Roll Book Club have helped turn Walthamstow into a cultural hot spot. Now Red Imp has joined forces with Waltham Forest Council and The Laugharne Weekend to produce The Walthamstow Weekender, with the aim of bringing a top class arts and culture programme to the borough.
24 shows. 3 venues. 2 days.
Guests at the event range from comedy (Rich Hall (pictured), Charlie Higson, Mark Thomas, Nick Revell) to literary heavyweights (Jim Crace, Salena Godden) to musicians (Dennis Bovell, Helen O’Hara) to poetry (Brian Bilston) to true crime (Duncan Campbell, Amber Marks) to journalism (Paul Gorman, Peter York) to science (Jude Rogers) to politics (Tariq Ali, John Williams’s CLR James biography) and beer (Pete Brown).
