Rob Beckett Ends Up As Accidental Activist After Becoming Caught Up In Protest

Rob Beckett ended up on the news looking as if he was leading a protest march by accident today.

The comedian and co-host of his podcast Parenting Hell was in a taxi on his way to record a voiceover for E4's Celebs Go Dating when the traffic was blocked by protestors. Beckett decided that he had no choice but to get out and walk to the studio in his crocs.

As it happened it appeared that he was at the front of a #juststopoil climate change rally and by accident looked briefly like he was leading the march.

A clip of Beckett on the street looking as if he was a figurehead even appeared on the ITV News. One fan photoshopped him to look as if he was being carried away by police, which didn't, however, happen.

Beckett was a little embarrassed by his footwear but did see the funny side, posting what had happened on his social channels as he saw the story go viral and taking the opportunity to plug his new celebrity relationship reality show Unbreakable: "Now it’s on lad bible. This is great. Buy my book and watch Unbreakable on BBC 1 this Thursday night."

One person, @luckylchandler did tweet: "Would have been much cooler if you had actually said you supported the cause... #justsayin"

To which Beckett replied: "I had no idea what the cause was! Everyone was just shouting and filming me."

Afterwards he posted: “Well, that was an absolute disaster. I ended up being in the march...I’ve got a tracksuit on and Crocs and then I got to the front and then they started filming me and it looked like I was leading the march....It’s gonna look mental...Different style to my Monday morning.”
