Jonathan Ross Show Guests This Week

Jonathan Ross Show Guests This Week

This week Jonathan Ross is joined by comedian Chris McCausland, Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer, international star of film, modelling and fashion Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, double Olympic gold champion Dame Kelly Holmes, and for their much-anticipated return, the Arctic Monkeys, with their first British TV show appearance in four years.

Liverpool-born McCausland is having a bit of a moment at the moment. He has just filmed a travel series for Channel 4 and is back on the road with an extended leg of his Speaky Blinder tour which premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe back in 2018.

McCausland is blind, hence the name of his live show. In the past he would only make a few references to his sight at the start of his gigs, but as his latest tour evolved he began to feel more relaxed talking about it, making this his most personal show yet. “I'm older, I worry less about what people think. I don't really care about being trendy or cool,” he told me when I interviewed him recently.

In his upcoming travel show, The Wonders of the World That I Can’t See, which should air in 2023, he visits Jordan with Guz Khan, Greece with Harry Hill, Niagra Falls with Liza Tarbuck and Rome with dapper Tom Allen. “There's nothing funnier than Tom Allen trying to maintain his sartorial elegance in 40 degree heat.”

McCausland met Prince William in 2021 when he appeared on The Royal Variety Performance. Afterwards he joined the line-up to meet the royal guests: “You're given so many rules. Don't talk to them unless you're spoken to. Don't shake hands. Don't touch them. No selfies. And then Prince William just walks over and goes, 'Hey Chris, it's the Duke. How's it going?' and slapped his hand into mine. It was like talking to a cousin you hadn't seen in 15 years at a wedding or something.”

He recently recorded an appearance for the next series of Would I Lie To You?: “They told me I’ve been in four consecutive series and nobody else apart from Bob Mortimer has done that. It’s pretty good company to be in.”

The Jonathan Ross Show, Saturday, October 22, 10pm, ITV1.

The Graham Norton Show, Friday, October 21, 10.40pm, BBC One.
