Twitter Has Field Day After Matt Hancock Stung By Scorpion In Im A Celebrity Jungle

Perhaps unsurprisingly Twitter has had a field day after the news broke today that Matt Hancock has been stung by a scorpion. Before the programme had even been broadcast social media was awash with jokes at the former Health Secretary's expense.

Reports say medics dealt with the incident and Hancock has not had to leave the camp, yelping after the sting and comparing it to a bee sting.

Comedy writer David Quantick was quick to quip: "I'll be outside my house tonight, clapping the scorpion."

Amanda, aka @pandamoanimum tweeted: "Matt Hancock was rushed to see medics after being bitten by a venomous scorpion. I really never thought I’d feel sorry for Matt Hancock. I was right. #ImACeleb"

@mrdavidwheatley tweeted: "Fair play. This is the best thing scorpions have done since Wind of Change."

Numerous people put a twist on the old gag about the perpetrator being victim. The Mirror's Kevin Maguire tweeted: "Matt Hancock stung by a scorpion. No update on the health of the arachnid."

Comedian Bennett Arron separately echoed the thought: "Matt Hancock has been stung by a scorpion. “It was horrific! I now have poison running through me!” said the scorpion.

TV critic Toby Earle added: "good luck to the scorpion that stung Matt Hancock releasing a tell-all book in time for Christmas"

Parody Rishi Sunak tweeted: "Matt Hancock has been stung by a scorpion. The creepy creature known for causing pain and death is said to be moaning about his sore finger. #ImACeleb"

@louishenwood was more political: "Matt Hancock should have to wait 8 hours in an ambulance to get treatment"

As was comic Mark Grimshaw: "Can’t wait to see the Daily Mail reporting on Matt Hancock being BRUTALLY ATTACKED by WOKE LEFTIE scorpion. #ImACeleb"

And Kit Yates added: "‘I’m a celebrity’ spokesperson insists the PPE was adequate."

The Secret Tory tweeted: "If you're wondering how Matt Hancock can stay calm while scorpions, maggots and cockroaches are dumped on his head, you're forgetting he was in a cabinet with Grant Shapps, Priti Patel and Dominic Raab."

Max Colbert tweeted: "It's not a show I've ever watched, but is there any way i can vote for the scorpion to win?"
