Rumpus Media and award-winning comedian Joe Lycett have today announced that they are offering a Trainee Programme on Joe’s new Channel 4 show, ‘The Joe Lycett Live Show’ (working title). The scheme will offer four paid production trainee roles to individuals over the age of 18 who live in Birmingham, the experience to work in the creative industries.
Following the success of Channel 4’s ‘Joe Lycett’s Big Pride Party’ last year, Joe Lycett returns to broadcasting live from his hometown of Birmingham for five weeks with this brand-new Friday night show, which was announced last week. The series will have inclusivity and fun at its heart as the comedian is joined by a mix of local legends and LGBTQ+ heroes and allies, alongside celebrities and big-name guests from the worlds of comedy, television, music and film.
Ahead of the launch of the show, Joe Lycett, Rumpus Media, Channel 4 Skills and Film Birmingham are looking for four bright and ambitious new talent to join the ‘The Joe Lycett Live Show’ production scheme, with no previous experience or qualifications required. The scheme is also supported by Create Central.
The four successful applicants will each be offered an exciting paid trainee role, launching them into the world of television production.
Throughout the production the trainees will work directly with a mentor from Rumpus Media. Each role will be focused on different areas of production in the editorial, production, technical and art departments as they help support the launch and weekly broadcast of ‘The Joe Lycett Live Show’. They will also have access to the wider Create Central Bootcamp Alumni network, including select Bootcamp masterclasses and virtual and face-to-face networking events, along with the chance to raise their profiles through case studies and blogs/vlogs.
Applications for the scheme are open until Wednesday 22nd February 2023 with the application form available here.
Interviews will take place in Birmingham on Wednesday 1st and Thursday 2nd March and the successful applicants will begin the scheme in late March.
The trainee scheme is funded by the programme’s co-producers, Rumpus Media and My Options Were Limited, with Channel 4’s 4Skills and Film Birmingham.
