The fourth Camberley Comedy Festival takes place on Saturday 8th July and the final line up has just been announced. The headline act will be Phil Wang (pictured looking thoughtful) with support from Sophie Duker (pictured with red background) and BBC New Comedy Award winner Heidi Regan. Compere will be one-liner champion Mark Simmons.
Organised by Camberley Theatre, the festival will once again be taking place at the London Road Recreation Ground, behind the Places Leisure sports centre.
Gates open at 6pm for chilled out summer vibes, food and drinks.
Comedy starts inside the mini big top at 7:30pm with intervals throughout the evening.
Gates close at 11pm.
HEADLINE ACT – PHIL WANG
Phil Wang is one of the UK’s most exciting stand-up comedians, who recently recorded his first Netflix special at the London Palladium which was released on August 10th 2021. He has appeared on countless shows including hosting Live at the Apollo (BBC2), Have I Got News For You (BBC1), QI (BBC2), Would I Lie to You? (BBC1), 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown (C4) and many more!
Sophie Duker
No matter how you feel about it, Sophie is definitely a professional comedian. Ya girl has appeared in Taskmaster, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, The Last Leg (Ch4), Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week, Frankie Boyle’s New World Order (BBC2), Jonathon Ross’s Comedy Club (ITV).
Sophie’s debut solo stand-up show ‘Venus’ saw her nominated for the Best Newcomer Award at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Heidi Regan
With more than a decade’s experience as a comedy writer, Heidi Regan enjoyed a meteoric rise through the stand-up comedy ranks. She has won two of the most coveted prizes in comedy; the So You Think You’re Funny? title at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, following in the footsteps of comedians including Peter Kay, Aisling Bea, Alan Carr and Lee Mack, before scooping the BBC New Comedy Award prize. She has gigged around the world, including performances at the prestigious Just For Laughs in Montreal and tour support for Joe Lycett, Phil Wang and Milton Jones.
Mark Simmons
Mark is our compere for the evening. Mark appeared at the very first Camberley Comedy Festival in 2019!
Food and Drink
Once again the festival will have a wonderful selection of street food, including pizzas with more to be added. Ascots Ales will be with us once again serving drinks from their horsebox bar! Camberley Theatre will look after the main bar with a full selection of drinks.
All of the previous Camberley Comedy Festivals have sold out well in advance so we recommend you buy your tickets early to avoid disappointment!
