A number of UK comedians including Ed Gamble, Rhys James and Glenn Moore are set to appear in a new American comedy panel show starting later this month.

The Great American Joke Off was created by Dan Patterson, the veteran producer being Whose Line Is It Anyway? and the recently axed Mock The Week. The Great American Joke Off sounds like a cross between the two shows. It was filmed last year in London and is described as follows. "It features rounds in each episode that involve telling as many gags as possible in given categories, mashing different subjects together to create puns, coming up with set-ups to different punchlines, and even using the texts on an audience member’s phone as a springboard for jokes."

It airs on the CW network from March 31 and the regular host is Dulcé Sloan. Also appearing in the series are Fahim Anwar, Matthew Broussard, Natasha Leggero, Moshe Kasher, Alonzo Bodden and Greg Normand.

Glenn Moore (pictured bottom) tweeted: "I’m in a new US comedy show called The Great American Joke-Off. It starts next Friday night on The CW with a bunch of amazing US comedians. And if you like British upstarts, @rhysjamesy and I are on most episodes. Next stop: playing the Copacabana, baby!"

Rhys James tweeted: "From the makers of Mock The Week (fun bbc show from the past) comes The Great American Joke Off, on The CW from next Friday. Mostly yanks (your Normands, your Lists, your Kashers & Leggeros) but a few of us lot too (your Moores, your Gambles etc) Good."
