New Comedy From Rory McGrath And Philip Pope

AUK Studios is proud to present “the least worst bits of ‘The Two TV Chefs’ — an audio comedy sketch show. Written by and starring McGrath (as Mick ‘Munchies’ McCrum) alongside longtime collaborator Philip Pope (as ‘Walking Dead’ Danny Dimmock), ‘The Two TV Chefs’ is a send-up of TV cookery shows.

Friends and colleagues since they first met, when relieving themselves in the revolving doors at TheRitz, Mick ‘Munchies’ McCrum (Rory McGrath) and ‘Walking Dead’ Danny Dimmock (Philip Pope)have a refreshing new approach to cookery on television: no-nonsense, no-frills, no-extras, no-ability.

Wit, wisdom, whimsy, and warmth are all words beginning with ‘W’. As are Mick and Danny.

‘The Two TV Chefs’ is “the silliest thing I’ve ever been involved in”, says McGrath. “Great fun to do something so weird and outrageous and wonderful”. Always one for a joke, Pope (who also provides music for the special) adds: “Working and spending time with Rory was the best, most fulfilling, period of my career… By the way, this is Rory Bremner we’re talking about, right?”

Having originally worked with director/producer Barnaby Eaton-Jones on an audio revival of ‘Chelmsford 123’, McGrath suggested the idea for ‘The Two TV Chefs’ — an idea that had originally sat with Jimmy Mulville’s Hat Trick Productions (who were kind enough to grant permission for this release) — thinking the concept would translate well to audio. It did. ‘The Two TV Chefs’ was immediately comissioned by AUK Studios and will now be released in a run of limited audition CDs for fans of the kind of clever nonsense McGrath and Pope have been involved in before.

“I’m delighted that Rory and Phillip brought me this gloriously funny send-up of the whole TV cookery pehnomenon,” says director/producer Barnaby Eaton-Jones. “The easy yet electric chemistry of the ‘Chelmsford 123’ cast was inspiring, and we all vowed to work together again,” he adds. “It was a joy to be in the recording studio with them again.”

‘The Two TV Chefs’ is available to order now as a limited edition audition CD from AUK Direct - https://auk.direct/product/the-two-tv-chefs/
