Jack Tucker – the alter ego and creation of Stamptown Comedy’s Zach Zucker – describes himself as a powerhouse superstar comedy rock star. He’s an unpredictable, unreliable New York comedian who has ‘sold out’ all over the world, but no-one’s ever sure if that’s tickets, or his dignity.
Jack Tucker is never one to toot his own horn, but Instagram posts from his alter ego Zucker have emerged, celebrating Jack and his creative partner Dylan Woodley completing the New York Marathon hours before his debut Off-Broadway comedy show. Looking somewhat dishevelled, a video has appeared showing Jack Tucker crossing the finish line of Sunday’s marathon in a suit clutching what appears to be a hot dog and a microphone.
Jack and Dylan – otherwise known as DylanBrand – a premium lifestyle experience solutions company – stumbled across the finish line of the largest marathon in the world at an impressive time of just 3 hours and 47 minutes.
Later that evening, they both appeared Off-Broadway on stage in Jack Tucker’s Comedy Standup Hour at the SoHo Playhouse, to a roaring, *actually* sold-out crowd.
The pair had realised that the comedy show was on the same day as the NYC Marathon and agreed that ‘there’s no such thing as a coincidence’. After preparing by searching online things like ‘can you run the marathon without any training’ and ‘can you die running a marathon’, they ignored all the advice and decided to run the entire 26.2 miles on pure will, 20 minutes of stretching and hot dogs. Since Sunday, Jack and Dylan have had their medals engraved and have been interviewed for ESPN about their achievements.
Jack Tucker said: “To be honest I didn’t really know what was goin on. I was told at a young age that if you see a lot of people running in the same direction just put your head down and keep running with them. Don’t look back, don’t ask questions, just go. And it just so happens that I got to run the New York City mayorathon with my best friends Dylan, hot dog and chicken. ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE”
Dylan said: “People said it would be impossible to run a marathon without training, but I thought it was actually pretty easy. It’s more about your mental endurance than anything physical, so to distract myself I spent most of the four hours thinking about my dark past and rotating polygons in my mind.”
And Jack’s creator Zach tells us: “This is by far the greatest accomplishment of my life. To be able to run the world’s most iconic race in my hometown, with zero training, on the same night of my Off-Broadway debut, alongside my best friend and the beautiful people of New York City… I mean, it doesn’t get any better than that"
The New York Marathon stretches over 26 miles through all five boroughs of New York City and this year, had a 98.9% finish rate. 51,933 people took part on Sunday, including Jack and Dylan. Did they do the whole run without any training? We don't know for sure, but their medals, pictured, are real, so someone official certainly thinks they did it...
Jack will next be back in London hosting the greatest comedy show in living history, STAMPTOWN at the Soho Theatre in January 2024 - https://sohotheatre.com/events/stamptown-2/
