Hils Jago, the highly-regarded founder of Amused Moose Comedy, is stepping away and looking for someone else to run Amused Moose.
Over the years Jago has run classes, competitions and club nights which have helped to discover countless household names, including Rob Beckett, Jack Whitehall (pictured here with Jago) and Sarah Millican. Jack Whitehall began his career at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2007, where he won both The Charlie Hartill Special Reserve Competition and The Amused Moose Laugh Off. Ian Smith, who was nominated for an Edinburgh Comedy Award for Best Show this August, won the Amused Moose Comedy Award Final People's Choice Award in 2017.
Amused Moose has a London base and also puts shows on in Edinburgh where the Amused Moose Comedy Awards is the only awards show on the Edinburgh Fringe which focuses on discovering unknown comedy performers resident in UK/RoI, who do not yet have comedy agents and whose shows have not won any major comedy awards nor performed at comedy's "stepping stone" Soho Theatre. Amused Moose Comedy Awards is the ‘senior strand’ of the Amused Moose comedy competitions.
"I am keen to hand Amused Moose Comedy to a successor so they can develop their vision into an exciting future, and will be delighted to hear from comedy people who are interested" says Hils. "Until now the focus has been on producing live comedy shows and events, touring, discovering and showcasing new talent via our comedy competitions, producing Fringe shows, and running comedy courses," says she adds.

Jago is not entirely pulling back from comedy. She plans to move into reviewing and other comedy projects.
