New Sports Podcast Launched By QI Team To Tie In With Olympics

Quite A Good Sport, the brand new podcast series from the makers of QI and No Such Thing As A Fish, sees hosts James Harkin and Anna Ptaszynski tackle the interesting side of sport.

Launching on Tuesday 23 July to coincide with the Olympics, the show is packed with improbable, fascinating and funny stories, guaranteed to entertain everyone from the diehard sports nut to the fair-weather fan. It also features interviews with world-class athletes, conversations with people working behind the scenes, and some very amateurish live action sporting contests to boot.

Quite A Good Sport is available on the BBC Sounds app and all major podcast platforms.

James and Anna’s new book, A Load of Old Balls, filled with many more weird and wonderful sporting stories to amaze fans and non-fans alike, is also out now.

Anna Ptaszynski and James Harkin are senior researchers, writers and script-editors for the BBC’s QI, and two-fourths of the award-winning podcast No Such Thing As A Fish, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year. Between them, they have authored 13 books with the QI Elves and toured sell-out shows across the world, from the London Palladium to the Sydney Opera House. They are long-suffering fans of Charlton Athletic and the Jacksonville Jaguars, respectively.

QI (the letters stand for Quite Interesting) is the BAFTA-winning panel show, which has run for more than two decades and over 300 episodes on the BBC. Each encyclopaedic series tackles a different letter of the alphabet, with Series V due to air later in 2024.

The show's writers, known as the QI Elves, have also authored 20 books, created the award-winning spin-off podcast No Such Thing As A Fish and, since 2019, have joined The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show each week on Radio 2 for Wednesday’s Why Workshop.
