Simon Armitage, Josie Gibson, Ardal O'Hanlon and Adele Roberts face up to each other in Richard Osman's House iOf Games tis week.
Which makes this the second week in a row that they have had one of the stars of Death in Paradise on the show. Last week it was Danny John-Jules, this week it is Ardal O'Hanlon who has also had a stint on the sunny crime series.
Of course, O'Hanlon will be best remembered for playing dim Father Dougal on Father Ted. Let's hope he isn't as dim on this show.
O'Hanlon first made his name as a stand up comedian and he returns to stand up next year with a new tour, entitled Not Himself. Read about it here. In the show he will be taking the audience on a thought-provoking journey following an alarming experience at the supermarket, Ardal examines his identity as a man and a comedian, reflecting on everything from his own ethnic and religious background to the joys and follies of contemporary life.
He will also be back on TV in 2025 in How To Get To Heaven from Belfast, the new Channel 4 comedy/thriller serial from Derry Girls creator Lisa McGee which he is currently filming
I can vouch for O'Hanlon being a good egg. I once spent time with him in Dublin when writing a feature about St Patrick's Day. I also played golf with him at the Just For Laughs festival in Montreal. Later that day he had to audition for a part in a sitcom starring Geena Davis, so I had to play the role of Davis as we went through his lines in the taxi back into the city centre. As far as I know he was not offered the part. Maybe it was my fault.
