Kickstarter Campaign For New High Spirited Scary Comedy

Kickstarter Campaign For New High Spirited Scary Comedy

A Kickstarter campaign has been set up to raise money for a London production of a show that was a hit in Edinburgh. The Grim is set to open at the Old Red Lion Theatre later this month, details below, but the team is looking for £1000 to make this production bigger, better and more fully realised.

This is the second play from Edmund Morris, the writer of You’re Dead Mate, transferring to London after a successful run and rave reviews at the Fringe. It features actor Louis Davidson (Netflix’s Vikings: Valhalla and BBC’s Poldark) alongside Ed himself, and Harry Carter (Magic Mike Live).

The aim is that this run is the boost that could take the play from Fringe Theatre to a mainstream hit if it gains the right attention.

London, 1964.

Shaun is just trying to get through another dull day as the proprietor of an undertakers in the East End. Robert, his assistant, is a superstitious wreck.

Both want nothing more than to clock off early and get to the sanctity of the local pub, but on the day they’re due to fit recently deceased murderer, Jackie Gallagher, for his coffin, and with strange happenings afoot, all is not as it seems…

Director Ben Woodhall has said: ‘This show is a real gift to a director. The clarity of the characters, wit of the dialogue, unexpected twists of the plot and the melding of genres, are all embedded in the writing. It is a real testament to Edmund’s unique and creative voice. Audiences should expect belly laughs, genuine thrills and a show that continually takes you by surprise.
