PBH Free Fringe Announces London Weekender

Over fifty comedians and variety performers are working together to raise funds for the legendary PBH Free Fringe in Edinburgh. The PBH Free Fringe is bringing a three-day mini-fringe to COLAB Tower in Southwark on June 27-29.

The PBH Weekender line-up has something for everyone. Big names include Mark Thomas, Mark Simmons, Shelf, Rob Auton, Sam Nicoresti, Heidi Regan, Attila The Stockbroker, Trevor Lock, Andrew O’Neill, and Rob Copland. Or discover something new, from oddball gems like Mark Dean Quinn’s cult hit “Oh No, That’s Not Your Cheese” and a rare performance of the cult favourite “A Young Man Dressed as a Gorilla Dressed as an Old Man Sits Rocking in a Rocking Chair for 56 Minutes and Then Leaves…”.

Add to this some Edinburgh preview and Work-In-Progress shows from some of the most exciting up-and-coming comics and Fringe veterans alike, plus a healthy dash of variety and cabaret.

Staying true to the Free Fringe ethos, every show at The PBH Free Fringe Weekender is free entry and first-come-first-served. Just turn up, grab a seat, and enjoy the show. At the end of each show performers will ask for cash and card donations with all proceeds going directly to the Free Fringe. With show’s starting on average every 26 minutes, you’ll never have to wait long to see a show.

Festival co-organiser Alastair Clark said: “I’m really looking forward to the PBH Free Fringe Weekender. If you’ve never been to the Fringe I think it will capture a lot of the vibe and the atmosphere of being in Edinburgh but for a fraction of the price. It’s so great that so many artists give up their time to help The PBH Free Fringe cover its costs. If it wasn’t for PBH I wouldn’t be a comic now, and I’m sure I’m not the only act in that position.”

Established in 1996 by Peter Buckley Hill, The PBH Free Fringe is a registered charity that provides artists with venues at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for free. In return, artists don’t charge for tickets, instead keeping 100% of any donations the audience makes at the end of the show. Headlines are dominated by the rising cost of The Edinburgh Fringe Festival for both participants and punters, PBH Free Fringe is doing valuable work to keep the Fringe financially accessible.
