Scottish comedian Christopher MacArthur Boyd is the star of Glasgow band Former Champ's video for their new single “porcelain”.
A one-shot scene filmed at Langside Cafe, the video, directed by Nicholas Patrick Afchain, sees the comic enjoy a full Scottish breakfast blissfully unaware of the turbulent goings on unfolding around him.
The band have long been fans of the comedian’s work and jumped at the chance to collaborate. Former Champ guitarist Craig Angus says, “We’ve been admirers of Chris for a while now and we are all regular listeners of his Here Comes the Guillotine podcast with Frankie Boyle and Susie McCabe. He’s been a supporter of the band from the start and we knew that given 90 seconds on camera he’d find several ways to crack us up. I’ve never seen anyone use ketchup so artfully.”
The single, ‘porcelain’ is 90 seconds of wry power-pop taken from the Glasgow-based five-piece’s forthcoming debut album I saw you in paradise, ten tracks of sparkling melody and sharply recognisable details of love, friendship and contemporary life, due for release on the band’s own Hand of God label on 19 September.
Christopher MacArthur Boyd will be at the Edinburgh Fringe this summer with his new show Howling at the Moon. Details here.
