Neurodivergent Comedians Turn Children's Ideas Into Plays In New TV Show

Six neurodivergent comedians –  Cariad Lloyd, Inel Tomlinson, Stuart Laws, Bec Hill (pictured), Aruhan Galieva and Chris Barlow – are challenged to create and perform an original stage play that's based entirely on the ideas of a neurodiverse group of 6 to 8 year-old school children in a new programme called Play Time.

Whatever characters, settings, stories and catchphrases the children come up with, they must quickly turn into a play that they then perform that very same day on the school stage for all of the children and their family and friends. Witty, heartwarming and full of joy, it’s a celebration of creativity, community and humour — expect chaos, connection, and maybe a few bum jokes.

Director Céin McGillicuddy, who is himself autistic, says: “Play Time showcases the wonderful creativity of children from across the full neurodiversity spectrum, showing that we should be proud of and celebrate our differences”.

The one-off special is part of Fresh Cuts 2025, a weekly showcase of programmes and a celebration of the creativity, humour, resilience and originality shaping Britain today. From candid conversations to culture-clash comedy, heartfelt restorations to groundbreaking formats, this year’s strand aims to shine a light on stories and voices that entertain, inspire and truly reflect the UK’s rich diversity.

Fresh Cuts runs on Monday nights at 11.40pm on ITV1. The Play Time episode will air on November 10.
